Pearly Island probably sets the standard among those with hurdling experience, just ahead of French import Icare Grandchamp and Exeter runner-up Thruthelookinglass, but there are a number of newcomers who will be fancied to do well over timber in the long term. One is FAME AND CONCRETE, who was second to a subsequent Grade 2 winner in a bumper at Newbury in February when returning from a lengthy absence. Jack Doyen placed several times between the flags but Getupearly has more scope and Awesome Foursome won a bumper here in May on his racecourse debut.
