made all, ridden and hung left over 1f out, ran on
slowly away, soon chasing winner, challenged over 1f out, hard ridden and every chance inside final furlong, ran on
chased winner early, soon ran green, hit rail over 3f out and rider lost iron, unseated rider well over 2f out
A poor turnout in numbers for a decent prize at this time of year and Shustraya should be capable of making experience count. The selection has won her last two starts emphatically and still looks to be very much on the improve. Pixie Ring defied market weakness to land a maiden at the track. That was a fair debut performance from Sir Mark Prescott's runner although it was put into some perspective by the fact that the second has gone on again to find another too good. Comptonspirit is a cheaply bought daughter of Compton Place and would need to be something special in order to make her presence felt at this level. The race deserved much better than this turnout and Shustraya gets the nod.
Pixie Ring 5-1 (9-0) Prominent, led 3f out, ridden, headed over 2f out, hung left over 1f out, soon switched right, rallied to lead well inside final furlong, won at W'hampton 6f 2yo mdn fll (5) pol beating Darling Belinda (9-0) by 1l, 10 ran.
Shustraya 10-11fav (9-7) In touch, led 2f out, kept on, driven out, won at W'hampton 6f 2yo hcp (5) pol beating Social Rhythm (9-3) by 1/2l, 8 ran.
Comptonspirit Compton Place filly, half-sister to bumper winner Venice Road.
