In depth

Verdict

The progressive MIDNIGHT GUEST (NAP) won at Lingfield last month and defied a 7lb rise to score over 5f at Kempton more recently. The manner of her victory suggested she can shrug off a further rise in the weights today and George Margarson’s filly gets the nod. John Joiner looks next best having just missed out at Windsor last week and racing off the same mark here while Lexington Place is preferred to Compton Poppy and Hollander after placing at Musselburgh. Swendab won last year’s inaugural running and is back on a winning mark.
