Our shortlisted three are Russian Mist, Glentaisie and Spanish Lace, with the vote going to Russian Mist. Russian Mist ran green but still showed plenty of promise when fourth on his Lingfield debut and that rates as just about as good as any of the others can offer in this company, so he should go well. The John Gosden-trained Bariloche showed improved form in first-time blinkers last time and, with that course and distance form rating as ok, he has to be considered. The Brian Meehan-trained newcomer, Permanent Way, cost 110,000 euros and has to be given some consideration, while a big mention must be made of Glentaisie who, being by Giant's Causeway out of an Affirmed mare, very much catches the eye on breeding and market support would have to be noted. A favourable mention is also given to Spanish Lace, who has shown promise on each start and, being bred for middle distances, would not have appreciated the sprint finish at Lingfield last time. All things considered, that was a good effort. Jamie Osborne's Mind Out at least suggested some ability on his debut, which is more than many of the others can claim, although Vacation showed promise at Yarmouth last time, but that run came on heavy. Once again, then, the vote goes to Russian Mist.
