Verdict

Geezers Colours edges the vote in the opener. Irish import Chinese Temple, along with Nice Wee Girl, can make this a good test, while Weetfromthechaff has improvement to find and is overlooked on this occasion. Weetfromthechaff comes here on the back of his best effort to date and would have claims if it could be guaranteed that he would settle. However, his tendency to race freely is a concern in a field this size and he looks vulnerable to a sucker punch. Nice Wee Girl has put together a few good efforts in defeat and can pay her way before too long. The mount of Simon Whitworth would be dangerous to underestimate and, at the weights, could represent good value. Chinese Temple - winner of a maiden at Cork on his penultimate start - is an interesting recruit for the Mick Quinlan team. The son of Choisir is open to improvement and, even though he is untried at this trip, his first two starts were very encouraging, so it would be folly to rule him out in a race like this. However, Geezers Colours has a more solid profile at the present time. And it is his proven stamina for the distance that makes his case the more compelling today. Karl Burke has kept the son of Fraam busy this year and looks to have found a good opportunity to round off 2007 on high with this fellow.
