In depth

Verdict

BAY OF NAPLES had a horse rated 77 back in third when opening his account at Lingfield recently. He may be capable of defying a penalty on that form and Mark Johnston’s colt gets the vote. The other three-year-olds have yet to threaten, though Cardano and Percy Alexander look likely improvers. A bigger threat may come from the older filly Sarasota, a runner-up over track and trip when last seen in action in October. Born In Thorne is preferred to stablemate Irish Charm and Laulloir, a half-sister to three winners, looks best of the newcomers.
