Givemethemoonlight can follow up her recent course win at the expense of Eastborough, Caroubier and the veteran First Maite. Givemethemoonlight had been a very consistent animal prior to finally getting her head in front in similar company over the course and distance last week. Trainer Steff Lidiard got her wish as nobody claimed the mare afterwards, and she hopes that the win will boost the seven-year-old's confidence. With Ian Mongan in the plate, she should go close to following up and gets the vote. Eastborough has not won for some time but clearly appreciated the drop to this level when third at Lingfield last time. There is a slight worry about the drop in trip here, but apart from that he is classy enough in the context of this race, to take a hand. Caroubier is another that will benefit from being back amongst this type of company after failing to get involved in a class D handicap a fortnight ago. He won over hurdles for Ian Williams at Bangor in November, but new connections obviously feel he has the pace to score on the Flat again. First Maite needs no introduction and would have carried these in his heyday. However, he was soundly beaten in a conditions event last time, and his days could be numbered, especially if he starts toiling in this type of company. All in all, the safest option is to go with Givemethemoonlight.
