In depth

Verdict

Champagne Shadow is top rated and can once again take advantage of race conditions which are in his favour. Top rated in the contest, he receives 5lbs from Alfie Tupper who is, in effect, 8lbs wrong. The selection does think about it at times, often racing in snatches, but cheekpieces are reapplied today and should help him to concentrate and land this. Alfie Tupper tackles this trip for the second time. He finished second behind Nawamees in December in what was a very falsely run affair and his rivals are sure to stretch his stamina. The remainder look to be playing for third and a chance is taken with Buscador to fill that placing. He is the one likely to take them along. In an event that looks to concern two, Champagne Shadow is our choice.
