In depth

Verdict

This should be a match between Abientot and Novelina, with Pink Bay and Out Of India capable of being involved, and we take Abientot to score. The selection is tried on a slower surface here than when a promising runner-up on debut at Lingfield recently, but the way he ran there suggested that this actually might suit better. The winner that day has been beaten since, but over further, so we can probably not worry to much about how solid the form is and we take him to go one better here. Novelina finished third here last time over a quarter of a mile further and it remains to be seen whether this trip will suit, as she is bred to get a mile. However, the track suits and she may still be capable of giving the selection plenty to do. Conversely, Pink Bay steps up in trip to a more suitable seven furlongs, and she showed up well in her last start at the track in October. Provided she is straight enough first time she should go well, while Out Of India is worth another look back on this surface, but does need to show us more than at Ripon the other day before we take the plunge. Not the hottest maiden and we take Abientot to score.
