Finding himself dropped to this less-than-elevated grade, Rellim must hold a good chance of success. However, it's not an easy race to solve, with Hagley Park, Soaked, White O'Morn and Torrent others to consider. Back in November, the selection was competing pretty well in all-weather handicaps from a rating of 50. He should feel more at home here and looks set to go well. Turning to the others. Hagley Park is a four-time course and distance winner and ran fairly well when unfavoured by the weights last time and Darryll Holland is an eyecatching booking. Mangus has regressed markedly since his fair 1999 form, while Soaked has won 17 times, but never here, although he handles the track and is entitled to his supporters. So Sober, Torrent and White O'Morn are all course and distance winners. For us, Torrent gets the nod over So Sober but White O'Morn is a little harder to assess. She is lightly raced and, while it was a poor event, she looked to have more improvement in her when notching that c/d win last time. We'll find out more today and the cheekpieces that were used there are back on today. Valazar certainly has a chance if getting back to the level of his form of 12 months ago but most of the others look decidedly modest on what we have so far seen. That said, The Leather Wedge can also be given a shout if turning the clock back 12 months or so. As we say, it's not a straightforward race and overall we'll just side with Rellim.
