This is quite an interesting maiden for the time of year and we believe that it can go to CONFEDERATE but keep a close eye on Brouhaha, Lady Longcroft and Emerald Rock. Royal Encore has turned losing into an art form and she has a bit to find at the weights so a minor role seems likeliest for her once again. Brouhaha also has something to find on the book but he is having his first run for Tom Dascombe who has such a good record with acquisitions from other yards and he's worth keeping an eye on. Emerald Rock returns from a long absence but he was well backed on his sole start and connections have persevered; the yard has a good record here and market support would be encouraging. Lady Longcroft fared as well as could be expected behind a Noseda runner at Brighton and should relish the step up from a mile. Her yard is enjoying a decent spell and she's worth monitoring for support. Confederate is no star but he has progressed with each of his three runs and pulled clear of the third when going down narrowly to a tenacious Mark Johnston runner. The handicapper has allotted him a mark of seventy two which is ten pounds clear of the nearest qualifier in the race and Confederate can confirm the assessment by winning with a bit in hand.
