MERLIN’S BEARD landed a hat-trick when upped to today’s trip at Bath. There should be more to come from Richard Hughes’ charge over this distance and he’s preferred to Nicks Not Wonder. The latter also scored at Bath when successful over a shorter trip in a three-runner affair while Dreambird was well beaten when third over 2m at Chelmsford but is still makes more appeal than Divine Comedy.
Nicks Not Wonder 3-1 (9-10) Led, headed 6f out, outpaced over 2f out, soon switched right, rallied to lead over 1f out, stayed on, won at Bath 1m 4f hcp (5) fm in Sep beating Red Flyer (8-13) by 1 1/4l, 3 ran.
