        Verdict

        Beaten here on his debut, POTOMAC was an easy winner at Southwell last time. His improvement was probably as much down to normal progress and the application of cheekpieces as it was to the change of surface and John Gosden's charge can follow-up back on the Polytrack. There is no lack of competition with Piceno and Dunhoy on the upgrade and better expected from both Islesman and Swift Alhaarth, but the handicapper may have Fred Willets and Malice Or Mischief in his sights now.
