The best race of the night by a long chalk and FLOWING CAPE is the one that can scoop the pot. Fanunalter and Stand Guard are feared most. Reg Hollinshead's stable star goes well fresh so his lengthy absence isn't a worry and it's significant that he's booked Jamie Spencer to take the mount. The gelding does have work to do from his high draw and current mark but he runs this track well and is entitled to progress further. So, too, is Fanunalter who is best forgiven a modest run at Ascot as his earlier form stacks up well and the conditions will hold no fears for him. Ryan Moore is another good booking and he looks certain to run a big race. Fairmile has a bit to prove these days, Carcinetto and Moynahan have no more than an each-way chance whilst Wintercast appears to have lost his way. Of more interest is Stand Guard who produced a rousing finish to get to within a length of Wing Play on his latest outing and is just one pound higher. He's competitive from this mark and could be finishing fastest of all but the line may not arrive in time and we prefer Flowing Cape.
