SMALLJOHN has the best chance at the weights in this claimer and gets the vote ahead of Kheskianto. The selection is rated 74 and is therefore favourably treated by tonight's race conditions. Seven furlongs around here suits, as evidenced by a course and distance win a month or so ago and he has gone close enough twice since then in claimers. From a good pitch he will take a deal of beating. If there is to be one to lower his colours then perhaps it will be Kheskianto. Marco Botti's filly didn't run too badly despite beating only one home on her British debut last week. The trainer will have had a little more chance to improve her and given the ratings of the other horses around her that day then she'd have to have a squeak here. Officer Mor does not convince that he gets this trip for now, while Captain Cavendish is a course and distance winner who is open to improvement at this early stage in his career and a market check is advised. Little else appeals and we will take Smalljohn to score.
