        Verdict

        Mehdi won for the first time since 2011 when scoring at Newcastle. He shares ownership with recent course and distance winner Masamah, who was winning his first race since 2013 with Athletic a couple of lengths behind here last time. Hamish Mcgonagain landed a double over shorter trips in January but was beaten off today’s higher mark last time so it could be the turn of MAGIC CITY in this. The latter has slipped further down the weights over the winter and may finally end a long losing run after finishing third at Chelmsford last time ahead of Fleckerl.
