A competitive opener in which CHJIMES is given the narrow vote ahead of Klynch and Monte Major. Although Conor Dore's gelding does have a little to find at these weights, there is a fair chance that he will get the early pace that he needs in order to strike late and that could be enough to take this obvious drop in class. Klynch is the clear choice on BHA ratings. That said, his trainer is on something of a losing run so he might not be one to row in at short prices about. Monte Major has been in rude health this winter. He accounted for Misaro earlier in the month though that horse enjoys a 2lb pull at the weights for a short head beating. Malcolm Saunders can have them ready first time out so don't be surprised to see any interest about Pennyspider despite that sizeable absence. The remainder seem to have it all to do on paper. Chjimes would have made more appeal at Lingfield but with others out of form, he could be in a position to capitalise.
