      Verdict

      A poor opener where Esclarmonde, Noble Plum and Unreachable Star look to have it between them and the vote goes to Noble Plum. Sir Mark Prescott's gelding looks as good as either of the other pair, but has greater potential for improvement. With just two starts to his name so far, the latter of which being when just touched off over 11 furlongs, this extra distance will suit and he wouldn't have to come on too much to land this. Esclarmonde has now had eight chances to get off the mark, and it would not be a shock if he was good enough here, but he is certainly exposed and vulnerable to something with some toe. Unreachable Star may also improve for a slight step up in trip and has run consistently well in defeat so far, so he is not ruled out, but with little else making appeal we'll take Noble Plum to score.
