        Verdict

        APRES DARK attempts to defy a penalty having made a winning debut at Newmarket with a subsequent winner back in third. Marco Botti’s colt may well be capable of doing so with an apprentice taking 5lb off his back today. The Princes Poet ran well enough in a tougher race at Goodwood last month and Split Elevens should find this easier after running at Newmarket but Eva Icon disappointed at Chepstow having finished second at the latter track before that. The Nail Gunner is a full-brother to a winner on the all-weather and Roman Dynasty is another newcomer to note.
