Verdict

The two challengers for the jockey's championship are both in action at Wolverhampton and Jamie Spencer looks to have solid claims of getting the day of to a good start with his mount Wild Bill Tracey preferred to the Seb Sanders-ridden My Mate Pete but both may have to settle for minor honours with the vote going to Mandelieu. The selection has the highest rating of those to have earned one. The William Haggas-trained gelding has shown plenty of speed in his races and may be too pacey for his main rivals here. It will be interesting to see how the market shapes up for Willie Muir's newcomer Moon Bound, while Ed McMahon's Another Socket showed enough here last time to suggest that she would be more than capable of taking a race of this nature. Several have chances in this opener but it is Mandelieu that gets the vote.
