    Verdict

CANWINN looks favoured by the conditions here and Mick Channon's colt is taken to score, while the other trio can battle for the minors. The selection has not been seen since finishing last in a Longchamp Group 3 in October, but prior to that he finished in the frame in a similar contest, so he clearly has ability. Slowish ground suits on turf, and he does have to prove he can handle this surface, but he is the best horse in the field from what we have seen so far and we will not oppose. Stablemate Akhenaten ran pretty well in the Group 3 Autumn Stakes at Ascot last backend and was not disgraced last time out at Leicester. The step up in trip looks a positive and he is respected. Doncosaque has an excellent strike rate of four wins from 10 starts away from turf and he landed a 10f Lingfield handicap last time. He is probably here on account of looking exposed now in handicaps, but with the yard going well he is not ruled out. The same can be said of Haydock winner Splinter Cell. Marco Botti has his string in fine form and this Johannesburg colt will relish an extra furlong and is open to any amount of improvement. An intriguing contest then and we think our selection Canwinn.
