REMBRANDT VAN RIJN is far from straightforward to assess and possibly far from straightforward in temperament too. All starts to date have come in maiden company, a first success arriving last time in a poor Wolverhampton contest in April. His quirks are a concern but he's arguably also the only one open to real future improvement and has been allocated a feasible mark for this handicap debut. He's a risk worth taking. Solo Hunter is an obvious threat, having stepped up on each of his three runs since joining Martyn Meade and impressed with a decisive all-the-way success at Leicester over a mile latest. However, none of his three career successes have been over this far, hence the narrow preference for the Lanigan inmate. Lucky Henry has been off since August 2013 but does have some fair form to his name and he would be worthy of consideration if the market speaks positively of his chance after such a break.
