Verdict

After Midterm's victory in the Classic Trial at Sandown last week. MAGNUM (NAP) is likely to be a short price for this. Brian Meehan's gelding was only beaten a length by Sir Michael Stoute's Derby hopeful at Newbury in October and an earlier third at Salisbury has also worked out well with the second in that race winning a competitive handicap since. Stoute runs Cape Blanco newcomer Sir George Somers in this and should have an idea of where he stands against the likely favourite. Choreographer, a son of Sea The Stars, is another debutant to consider, while King Julien has a middle-distance pedigree despite being by miler Canford Cliffs. Rex Bell was beaten 10 lengths when second over course and distance two weeks ago, however, and Pointel is likely to need more time.
