In depth

Verdict

Notable Guest found one too good in each of his two starts as a juvenile but Sir Michael Stoute's colt looks to have been found a decent opportunity to open his account at the first time of asking as a three-year-old and is taken to score at the main expense of Extra Cover and Moonlight Tango. The last mentioned stepped up on his debut running when an ultimately respectable fourth behind subsequent Greenham winner Salford City at Newbury in October. The second that day let the form down a shade on Saturday though and preference is for Notable Guest. The son of Kingmambo did not have the race run to suit when turned over at odds on by Muhaymin at Leicester in October but, with a strong gallop seemingly ensured and the step up in trip likely to suit, there should be no problems on that score this evening. Roger Charlton's Extra Cover has shown a similar level of ability in both of his starts and should again be thereabouts, while John Dunlop's Persian Dagger should strip fitter for his seasonal reappearance. Peter Harris saddles two with Majestic Vision marginally preferred over Midshipman Easy but it is Notable Guest that they all have to beat.
