In depth

Verdict

Lea Valley Black did best of the trio who ran at Kempton, showing good pace until fading, but it will be a surprise if this doesn't go to a newcomer. Richard Hannon had a tremendous strike-rate with his juveniles here last season so Meringue Pie, whose dam was over 6f as a juvenile, will know his job and must be respected while Mick Channon's horses have been going quite well so Ouzinkie should be kept on the right side. REGAL DAN has the pedigree to be a speedy type being a half-brother to the prolific sprinter Star Rover and out of a Brocklesby winner so he gets the vote to make a winning start.
