In depth

Verdict

A decent prize up for grabs here and Bowleaze looks capable of following up a recent Chepstow win, while Le Duc, Prestbury Knight and Hurlers Cross are considered. Bowleaze struggled somewhat with an allergy last year, but connections appear to have got him over that and, as one who goes well in the autumn, now looks the time to catch him. He has gone up 8lb for that defeat of Le Duc, so he is worse off the weights with that rival, but this extra trip may well help him to find the necessary improvement and with the yard going well he gets the vote. Le Duc is not easy to win with and has not tasted success since January 2005. He stays well enough these days but has gone up 5lb himself for that defeat to Bowleaze and that should find him out. Prestbury Knight is three from four lately, goes on any ground and is from a red hot yard, so he is not overlooked lightly, but previous tries over marathon trips have not been productive so he has stamina over this sort of trip to prove. There will be no trouble on that score for Martha's Kinsman, but with Henry Daly only just getting going and a high enough handicap mark he is opposed today. Distance winner Hurlers Cross is interesting with a feather weight on his back and Paul Blockley's runners are going well, so he is also respected, but Bowleaze is the one for today.
