Patronage is an interesting newcomer from a top yard and deserves every respect, however Spidam is taken to defy his penalty, Compton Quay is also expecetd to run his usual good race. The selection was a winner in the French provinces when trained Guillaume Macaire and ridden by Keith Mercer. The second has since finished runner up again in a very good race at Clairefontaine so the form looks pretty solid. Now with Paul Nicholls he can land his first race on these shores. Compton Quay chased home Wembury Point at Fontwell last time and a repeat of that effort should see him involved in the finish. Patronage is trained by the in form Jonjo O'Neill. He landed a Redcar maiden in June and is rated in the mid seventies. If they come for this one on the betting ring take note. Numidas and Rosecliff are two other debutante's to watch in the market, but Spidam has already proven his hurdling ability and this one gets our vote.
