In depth

Verdict

Old-timer Regal Flow has gone well here in the past and could outrun big odds. The Kings Writ was only headed close home in the Somerset National here two weeks ago but has been raised 5lb for his efforts. Seaston Spirit has won bothy starts this term and five of his last six. he’s gone up a further 4lb but still goes on the shortlist along with Lamanver Pippin, who was third off this mark at Cheltenham back in November. The penny has dropped recently with Shanty Alley and he arrives on a hat-trick while wind surgery may have helped the unexposed Eden Du Houx, who also sports blinkers for the first time. SPRINGFIELD FOX was never travelling and pulled up in the Welsh Grand National at Chepstow last month but that was a rare poor run from Tom George’s grey, who can bounce back here eased in grade. Time To Get Up has scope over this longer trip while Final Nudge and Shantou Flyer could also figure if fully wound up.
