In depth

Verdict

Benevolent overcame a mistake at the second last to make a smooth transition to hurdling at Fairyhouse and there's plenty more races to be won with him though he may find CAPTAIN ARCEUS just too strong on this occasion. Dessie Hughes' charge, who won a Fairyhouse bumper in February, returned to action with a very taking victory over hurdles at Navan. He had a big field struggling that day and with further progress guaranteed he'll take some beating. The Folkes Choice won a maiden hurdle at Limerick in July and was sent chasing where she ran very well behind Days Ahead at Tramore. It's a surprise to see her back over timber but her allowance is a bonus and she should get competitive. Sizing Italy will need to improve from his maiden success at Sligo but there's every chance he will do so while Cnoc Na Sioga is by no means out of this despite a couple of moderate recent efforts.
