Jim Bolger is having great difficulty finding a race for GOLD MIRAGE but faster going over this trip may be just what's required and she can finally get off the mark. Maal dropped back to a mile to land a Bellewstown claimer earlier this month but this is tougher while Rassi Maguire has been racing over hurdles though he did run well over 1m4f at Fairyhouse last time. Midnight Soprano hasn't run since this fixture a year ago but is one of the few here with real scope and it would be no surprise to see a big run from her despite the long absence.
Maal (IRE) 5-1 (10-0) Mid-division, 7th halfway, headway in 6th 3f out, ridden to dispute 2f out, narrow led last 150 yards, kept on well under pressure, won at Bellewstown 1m clm stks gf beating Port Elizabeth (9-2) by hd, 12 ran.
