In depth

Verdict

Some of these are way past their best but The West's Awake is on exactly the same mark as when a close fourth in the 2020 Galway Plate and generally goes well fresh. However, BEN DUNDEE (NAP) is a surprise entry at this level despite being recently qualified as his overall recent form entitles him to take this. He didn't jump well in the Grade 3 Ultima handicap at Cheltenham but was only beaten half-a-length in the Paddy Power at Leopardstown, form that would be far too strong for these. It's a very long time since Alpha Des Obeaux was winning and he couldn't get close to Delta Work in the Cross Country at Cheltenham while R'evelyn Pleasure hasn't won over fences for over three years. However, the latter has been racing in much better company and his close fifth in a Leopardstown Grade B handicap in February puts him in the frame.
