Verdict

Lil Rockerfeller made giant strides last season but faces a stiff ask giving weight to some promising stayers over a trip that's beyond his best. BALLYOPTIC won the Grade 1 Sefton Novices' Hurdle at Aintree in April and did very well to complete a four-timer at Chepstow on his reappearance. That should have put him spot-on for this and he can continue on his merry way as If In Doubt usually comes up short at this level, though is closely matched with Silsol on their run together at Aintree in the spring, and Native River made his name last season over fences so this might be a pipe-opener. Oscar Rock is also better over fences while this is a big step up for Newton Abbot winner The Romford Pele.
