Gary's Pimpernel made a winning return at Hexham earlier this month and is fancied to follow up here at the main expense of Jake Black and Prince Adjal. The last mentioned showed promise in plating company when last seen but would probably need to improve to beat the selection, who made a pleasing reappearance when running out the comfortable winner of a novice event at Hexham. Gary's Pimpernel looks well treated judged by that run and is preferred to Jake Black. John Quinn's gelding comes here fit from the flat but has rather harshly been raised 4lbs since his latest start over hurdles and faces no easy task giving weight away all round. L'Oiseau has given little sign of encouragement this term, while Pottsy's Joy is difficult to recommend on all known form in a race that is taken to go to Gary's Pimpernel.
