Flirty Jill is narrowly preferred to Dillay Brook in the nightcap. Flirty Jill cost 40000 guineas to new connections - but her pedigree suggests she was worth a punt. Her blood relations include such greats as Gaye Brief and Gaye Chance. Dillay Brook was much cheaper at the sales and on breeding may find this trip plenty short of enough. She is a half-sister to Kick For Touch, who showed his best levels of form over three miles. The booking of AP McCoy is, however, an eyecatcher. Bamby pulled much too hard in the early stages of her most recent race and never looked like landing a gamble. This race looks stronger than that affair so more is required. Devon Blue does not look anything out of the ordinary. She demonstrated a modicum of improvement between her first two races but whether she is good enough here is another matter. Overjoyed has an overtly flat-bred pedigree so could be handy if the race develops into a sprint. Sprinting will not be the forte of Solent Sunbeam. Her family include some very dour staying types so she is watched this afternoon. Sovietica failed to trouble the buyers at the Doncaster sales when offered for 6000 guineas so that information, in spite of the booking of Robert Thornton, must be considered before placing one's bets. Flirty Jill looks a likely sort so we hope she will be getting the drinks in tonight!
