This will give the connections of Well Chief a significant pointer as to where to go with him at the Cheltenham Festival in March and it will be surprising if last year's runner up in the Triumph Hurdle is not primed and ready for his first try over fences. Hawk's Landing has been expensive to follow but has done little wrong in defeat in his starts this season, and he is expected to pose a bigger threat to Martin Pipe's representative than No Shenanigans and Marked Man, who both have plenty to find on the balance of previous form. However, as Well Chief was the subject of a strong move for the Arkle earlier in the week, it will be a bit of a surprise if he is not up to taking a race of this nature along the way. The Night Shift gelding is unlikely to be the best bet of the day for followers of value but he looks too hard to oppose as Pipe puts the finishing touches to his Prestbury Park team.
