Treculiar has been a little disappointing overall but looks up to winning what is not a strong race. The Gerard Butler-trained colt is only lightly-raced but ran creditably when third at Sandown last time from a pound-higher mark. Sheepskin cheekpieces might also help the cause. Azur rates a danger, having been runner-up in each of his last three starts, including a short-head second last time from today's mark. All-weather winner Reminiscent has yet to win on turf, and Saxe-Coburg, despite a reasonable effort at Windsor last time, is now eight-pounds higher than for his Windsor selling win. Javelin is a course and distance winner, who is well up to being competitive from his current mark at this level. Lazzaz, a three-time winner on the all-weather, has been placed in seven of his last eight turf starts, and should still be in there with a shout as they make the turn for home. For us, though, the slightly quirky Treculiar might just be sweetened up by the headgear and gets our vote in that hope.
