In depth

Verdict

Pikar has run well in a couple of decent handicaps since beating a subsequent winner at Chepstow in the autumn. He gets 4lb here from HENRI THE SECOND but Paul Nicholls’ novice has been holding his own in Grade 2 company this season and is fancied to get back to winning ways. Idealdes Villerets is steadily improving and is worth a try over this longer trip. Pachacuti is more exposed but got off the mark at Fakenham latest and makes more appeal than Hall Lane of the other previous winners. King's Threshold can only improve on his third at Uttoxeter in October but hasn’t run since.
