In depth

Verdict

This is set to be a real cracker with some bang-in-form trainers set to be represented in the day's most valuable prize on offer at Warwick. The progressive Mughas is the first name to leap out of the page, as he comes here rather than heading to Ascot for the Ladbroke Hurdle. The four-year-old is improving with each run and he will undoubtedly come in for a fair chunk of support. However, he faces no easy task on these terms and may be worth taking on with Turtle Soup, who is 5lb better off with the top weight after a bold bid behind him at Chepstow last month. Tik-A-Tai and Personal Assurance are also entitled to be on the premises at the finish and are both capable of a bold show as well -which only adds spice to an already enthralling encounter. Therefore, Turtle Island is the sporting bet to overturn Allan King's charge as he does not need to find too much to provide a bet to nothing at an each way price today. Of the remainder: Javelin should continue to pay his way as the season goes on and it will interesting to see where he goes from here. But, like Sonevafushi and Metal Detector, he has something to prove at this level and is opposable on balance. In summary then, Mughas will be hard to beat but his chance will be reflected in his price. So an each way dip with Turtle Soup, who will not mind if the predicted rain gets into the ground, is recommended as he looks the one most capable of forcing Mughas to pull out all the stops.
