Verdict

Shotgun Paddy and Carruthers, first and second in this last year, return for another crack and both warrant consideration. Rigadin De Beauchene won the race in 2013 and goes well fresh while last month's Lingfield winner West End Rocker was successful in 2011 but, like Carruthers, is now in the veteran stage. Return Spring was a decent staying hurdler and contests his first handicap over the larger obstacles but may be a few pounds too high and is probably better going right-handed while Cheltenham scorer Benbane Head might struggle to dominate this big field off his new mark. Hawkes Point was pulled up in last month's Welsh National but would have a chance on his best form and makes more appeal than front-runners Sixty Something and Tales Of Milan. The lightly-weighted GLOBAL POWER was behind Ballyoliver at Carlisle and Theatrical Star at Fontwell but is fancied to reverse form with both over this longer trip on better terms and he'll relish underfoot conditions. Oliver Sherwood's charge should give supporters a run for their money as he'll be staying on when others have cried enough.
