Verdict

An extremely modest finale and CRIMSON MONARCH is no more than a token selection. He had Royal Defence behind when fourth at Brighton 10 days ago and Noel Garbutt is an experienced apprentice, though Mick Quinn's six-year-old has won over this trip on soft ground. Stanley Rigby has only ever won on Fibresand but Bengal Tiger could figure if forgiven a poor run over 2m at Kempton last time and is preferred to Port Hill of the others.
