In depth

Verdict

Several of these are previous course winners and one of them, Long Lunch, represents last year’s winning stable. Sego Success is useful and can be tough to pass if allowed his own way out in front. Shanroe Santos won here and at Sandown at the start of the year while Ballycross is back in the right grade, though still chasing a first success over the larger obstacles. BEGGARS CROSS is probably the type to improve with experience and could be on a fair mark if ready to roll after a break. He won at Doncaster in February before his jumping let him down at Newbury and Chepstow. Lofgren is preferred to No Buts of the others.
