MUNAASER was backed as if defeat was out of the question when reappearing at Pontefract but never looked comfortable or straightforward and finished out of the frame. That was a most surprising effort as he had looked one to follow after finishing third despite running green on his Yarmouth juvenile debut behind the talented Oxsana. There have to be doubts about him after that latest poor effort but this looks a modest maiden and he's afforded another chance. Emirati Spirit, a son of New Approach, was beaten five lengths on his Newmarket debut and should come on plenty for that over this additional furlong, whilst Storm Rider, beaten some way despite a mid-division finish in a Windsor maiden, should improve on that although he looks more of a handicap project for Richard Hannon.
