Verdict

A weak handicap to get proceedings underway and narrow preference is for Toucantini ahead of Brandywell Boy and Viewforth. The selection makes his debut on turf today and is dropped back down to six furlongs. That looks a good move as his best run has come at this trip and if he settles better then he could gain his first victory. If he is not fully race-fit then it may be best to concentrate on Viewforth. Ryan Moore takes the eye as a jockey booking and if we forget his last run and judge him more on his two wins earlier in the month, then he must rate a threat. Calabaza is another who needs to bounce back from a poor run, whilst Brigadore would be a threat if avoiding his fairly regular tardy starts. Roman Quintet has claims although he is arguably better over five furlongs, whilst Brandywell Boy has only one win to his name, and that was over the minimum trip. At a price Support Fund could bounce back with a bang, however it is Toucantini who gets the nod.
