In depth

Verdict

A very competitive renewal and PROPHETE DE GUYE is marginally favoured ahead of Strong Coffee and Browneyes Blue. The selection won readily at Worcester and as a seven-year-old, there is a fair chance of him still being capable of improvement. Strong Coffee has to carry a 7lb penalty for his victory at Newton Abbot. The fact that Oliver Sherwood is prepared to let him take his chance off 12st 1lb speaks volumes. Browneyes Blue is getting toward the veteran stage of his career but the decision to make the long trek from Cumbria certainly makes him worth a watch in the market. Good Harvest is tried without a visor today. What A Scientist has lost his way badly but with Nigel Twiston-Davies making hay with the staying chases at present - a return to form would not be completely out of the question. Option Money has left Tim Vaughan since obliging in a Huntingdon contest and has not troubled the judge or the bookmakers since. Prophete De Guye seems the most sensible option in a wide open affair.
