Verdict

Sizing Coal was third in last year's Irish National so should have the required stamina for this. He's been lightly campaigned this year but so have several of his rivals. Firebird Flyer and Shotgun Paddy were both placed in the Welsh National and the latter has been threatening to win one of these premier staying races for a while. David Pipe saddled the winner four times in a year before 2015 and runs Katkeau and Standing Ovation. No Planning should give a good account but Summery Justice and last year's third Woodford County look held on the form book. Milansbar looks certain to suited by this extreme test of stamina but the handicapper has taken no chances. Another novice, SUBTLE GREY, is racing for the first time against experienced handicappers but should cope. He jumps well and has already won at the track over hurdles and Donald McCain certainly knows what's required in races like this. Veterans Fourovakind and Golden Chieftain will have to defy recent trends to emerge successful but both arrive in good form.
