Possibly a race in which stakes should be kept to a minimum. Orchard Grove has won his last two but only beat Floy Joy a length-and-a-quarter at Newton Abbot in April when receiving 12lb and the runner-up should turn the tables if ready after a break. Phoebus Lescribaa is still 6lb higher than when scoring at Southwell in June but Lonimoss Bareliere is worth a market check. BALZAC props up the handicap but has the ability to win a race like this if Sean Houlihan can get him to settle. Splinter has gone backwards since a second at Southwell in July and Ranco has become disappointing while the going may be too lively for Early Morning Dew. The three-year-old Crane makes his handicap debut but has shown little so far.
