Jacarado can only be a nominal selection in a tricky contest in which Climate Change and William Butler are two of the more obvious candidates. The selection ran far better than his finishing position at Kempton suggests as he was always to the fore of a fiercely run race over 3 miles until those exertions took their toll around half a mile from home. He's in fair form, on a decent mark and looks sure to be involved. A reproduction of Climate Change's win at Ludlow could see him land this contest but if he runs as he did at Taunton last time, when never able to get into the race behind the runaway Fabulous Jet, then he's got no chance. It may be worth giving him another chance but we're less keen to do the same for William Butler who took fourteen attempts to get off the mark over fences. He's gone up a stone for that victory and will do well to improve his strike rate. Day Du Roy doesn't have a bad strike rate for one operating at this level and is not without some appeal but we'll take our chance with Jacarado.
