In depth

Verdict

Leader Writer won on soft ground on the Flat but may have stamina limitations as he was well beaten on the only two occasions he ran beyond a mile. EUR GONE WEST showed promise on his hurdling debut and first start since wind surgery when fourth here in October. He had a subsequent winner behind and holds Worcester runner-up Kitikat on that run. Esprit Du Large could be the fly in the ointment as Evan Williams wastes no time putting the French-bred over hurdles after just the one run in a bumper, when he was too keen. From The Heart was third at Market Rasen in October but then disappointed at Bangor, though in a better race than this.
