Mt Desert can beat the older Ladino, with Arpetcheeo, Zailann and Able King another trio that can get involved. Mt Desert has shaped well on both outings over timber to date, at Warwick and Fontwell, and although that latest form has taken a knock, he can improve enough to open his account. A winner on soft ground at Haydock on the level for John Gosden, he would not want conditions too fast in truth, but the quality of the opposition here makes up for that slight negative. The ex-French Ladino has also done enough to suggest that he can pay his way, especially when put into handicaps, while Zailann, who makes his debut over hurdles, is one for the future. Arpetcheeo made good late headway on his introduction here recently, and can only get better, while Able King ran a blinder against the useful Vaughan at Hereford. If the latter scores again in the opener here today, the chance of Able King must be respected, but we shall rely on Mt Desert.
