Verdict

All of Spring Steel's victories have come over fences but he was only beaten a length off this mark at Uttoxeter last month so has to go on the short-list. BUZ BARTON's second at Newton Abbot looks better now than it did at the time as the winner has since run well in a decent handicap at Southwell - Jimmy Frost's charge can win for the first time under Rules. Peal Of Bells is lightly raced and has shown signs of ability so can play a part but Limited Reserve has plenty of weight for what he's achieved. Airpur Desbois has scope but may need this.
